Damsel in Defense has done it! We have an app that allows you to alert contacts in your own security network that you are in a dangerous situation. The new Shield Community by Damsel in Defense is a security network app for individuals. Everyone is now able to alert emergency contacts through a digital safety system.
Create your personal security network on Shield Community
To create your own security network, go to your app store and download the Shield Community by Damsel in Defense for FREE. It will ask to use your location and add a pin number. Then you add your contacts and put in a message to be delivered to your contacts if you find yourself in a dangerous or unsafe situation. It will be saved for future use automatically. After that, you can enter a message to alert your contacts once you know you are safe.
The Shield Community app is easy to use
As easy as it is to set up, it is easier to use.
When you need to use the Shield Community app you simply open it on your phone and send the alert.
Almost immediately your contact gets the message and your location. But that’s not all. No, you can choose to have the alert resent every 1 to 5 minutes.
You will get a message “Alert Activated!” to assure you that your message and location has been sent to your contacts.
When you are safe, simply send the safe message. At this point, you will be asked for the PIN to ensure that it is you sending the message. The safe message and location message is sent to your contacts.
How easy is that? Very, so be sure and download the Shield Community today and tell your friends and family as well. It is for everyone and again it is FREE. There is not one single reason to waste a moment before getting this piece of peace of mind – for you and those who love you, too.
When or where could you find yourself in a dangerous situation?
Don’t kid yourself that you would never find yourself in a situation where you would send a Shield Community alert. There are lots of places and times when you will wish you had downloaded the app.
Here are some questions to think about as we consider a few of them:
Where are the top three places women are attacked or abducted from?
Answer: Grocery store parking lots, parking garages, and public restrooms. In every parking lot you should be sure to look around. Notice what kind of vehicle is parked next to yours and be cautious. As a rule, do not park beside an RV or van. Look under and in your car before you get in. If you own a stun gun, be sure it is out and ready. Just the noise alone should scare anyone off when you activate it.
What is the first thing you should do when you get into your car?
Answer: Lock your doors! We tend to get in the car and just sit there, digging around in our purses, checking our cell phones, or rifling through papers. When someone is distracted criminals see the perfect opportunity to rip open the door and take you, your things, and/or your vehicle.
When you come back to your car and see you have a flat tire, what is the first thing you should do?
The full correct answer is: Return to wherever you came from. Call for help. Once assistance arrives, approach your car. If a man approaches you, he could be a predator. If a woman approaches you and wants to offer help, politely say, “No thank you.” She could be the “bait” or the predator.
True or False: Putting up a fight with an assailant will just make them mad and make them hurt you.
Answer: False, putting up a fight will cause an assailant to think twice about what they are doing. They want what they want with as little resistance as possible so they can get away. Causing a scene draws attention to them and slows down their whole process. Use common sense. Many crimes have been deterred simply because someone upset a criminal’s plan for a clean getaway.
No one, especially women or older folks, want to be an easy target. Look around, pay attention. Keep your eyes open and off your phone. The less distracted you appear, the more alert you seem, the lesser the chance of an attack. Download the Shield Community app today and encourage your family and friends to do the same.
